JCI Philippines Holds National Convention in Tagaytay City

The Junior Chamber International (JCI) Philippines held its annual National Convention on October 5-7, 2017 in Tagaytay. The 3-day convention, more popularly known as “NatCon,” gathered hundreds of Jaycees from different chapters all over the country, who attended various events such as trainings, field trips, and fellowship nights.

The NatCon was preceded by the JCI Philippines’ 18th President’s Academy – a 3-day leadership training for the incoming presidents of the various JCI chapters. This year, the President’s Academy was held at Days Hotel in Tagaytay, where participants learned about leadership skills, as well as guidelines to help the incoming presidents manage their term.

The NatCon proper was filled with a series of plenary talks, concurrently held with events in other locations – Ms. JCI Philippines in Casino Filipino, a debate in the Development Academy of the Philippines, and the President’s Cup at the Tagaytay Southridge Estates. The annual awards night, also known as the Temiong Award, was held in the evening of October 6 at the Tagaytay International Convention Center. Several JCI chapters and individuals were recognized for their contributions in various categories, including Most Outstanding Member, Most Outstanding Local Organization, and Most Outstanding JCI Chapter President.

NatCon was capped off with the Presidential Ball on October 7th, held at the Tagaytay International Convention Center, where the oath-taking of incoming JCI officers also took place.

JCI Philippines is part of the international JCI network, whose mission is to provide development opportunities that empower young people to create positive change.
